Re: Facebook touring groups.

I find the irony amusing that in a forum dedicated to Alpine touring, somewhere that requires more riding through the Alps is considered by many to be too far  Ooh - there a forums where such a comment might trigger a flame-war  Of course around here it's each to their own - as long as ev...

Re: Facebook touring groups.

"Yeah - but it was great while it lasted." Hey, it's not quite dead yet!! [-X Apart from that, I agree with everything in this thread so far. This forum has never had a huge volume of traffic, even at its peak, but I think that's what's kept the quality of the posts (and the posters!) high...

Re: Grand Alps - Early June

There's a another option from Susa to Briancon - go to Bardonecchia and turn left to go over Col de l'Echelle - SP216 becoming D1 joining D944G to Val des Pres. It's paved but a little bit bumpy but much more interesting than the Montgenevre road.

Where was that road?!

Some time ago someone (I don't think it was one of the "regulars") posted some pictures and a reference to a spectacular narrow road somewhere between Lake Garda and the Dolomites. I know it's not much to go on, but can anyone help me to identify what road/where it was? ISTR Karza either k...

Re: maps for garmin

It does work, so I can get back to route planning as soon as I've got the hang of Basecamp.... Not quite as intuitive as MyRoute-app, but with Ali's "How to" from an old thread and a bit of googling, I'm up and running and now know how many days I need to get to AR2018. Thanks Raven!! =D>

Re: maps for garmin

It will if it enables me to use Basecamp without owning a Garmin device!
I will have a play later.

Cheers!

Is that definitely the case? The RiDE article I saw suggested they are.

Re: Alps in July

That's when I usually tour (2018 will be no exception) - I've always found it easy to find places right up until around 4pm on the same day using Booking.com. That's just for me on my own - you don't say how big your group is and I can't comment on how that would affect things. Have a good trip and ...
