Is closed except for lunchtimes and after 5pm.

Forced me to have a change of plan. :(

My Italian didn't even stretch as far as understanding the original road sign at the bottom - it was only the scribbled English translation at the barrier I reached on riding to the top that gave me any idea what was going on. Sadly I didn't have the wherewithal to take a photo of the complete, original sign for someone else to interpret in full (not that a photo would be much use around here!)

I can't remember exactly what hours lunchtime are though.

The Italians are trying to get UNESCO recognition for that area and one thing that was holding it back was volume of traffic. They have been experimenting with daytime road closures on passes to see how it works out.,
