Forum Software upgrade.

Postby tim » Sun Feb 10, 2008 4:21 am

Over the next week or so, I'll be installing the latest version of the forum software. When I think it's in working order I'll activate it, and deactivate the current version. This might mean you'll have to change any links you might have saved.

Theoretically all settings, posts and photos etc should still be available ... but you know how it is. I'll announce the switch-over before it happens. If it all goes pear-shaped I can hopefully return to the old version with minimal loss.

Me too. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
But it's just that there's no support for this software now, and the security isn't what it could be. soooo..... I'm having more problems than I had hoped for.

This has a ring of "I'm just going outside; I may be some time" about it.

Be strong, Tim. Remember, as you go through the nightmare days ahead - seeing your work of the last few years disappearing in an unresponsive "click here to cancel wipe" dialog box - that although you live over there with Johnny Foreigner you're still British. Stiff upper lip, old boy!

To the rest of you: if it all goes wrong, it's been great knowing you. If another site rises like a phoenix from the alpineroads.com ashes, I'll find it - I'll keep typing Limoncello into Google until I find Karza's name.
Expert??? Don't know where that came from. Believe me, I'm no expert!
